Jacob Williams Winery, located in the magnificent Columbia River Gorge, is pleased to announce the official launch of their first Pinot Noir. As a family-owned boutique winery with a well-established and beautifully appointed tasting room, Jacob Williams is widely known for its extraordinary wines, spectacular views and remarkable wine experience.
Though it’s a first Pinot Noir for Jacob Williams, it is not the first for renowned winemaker, John Haw. After working for 11 years at Solkol Blosser in the Willamette Valley, John Haw became known for making outstanding Pinots, much like the debut Pinot, Haw specifically crafted for Jacob Willams Winery. This Pinot Noir was aged in New French Oak, with the balance of one and two year old barrels, making a classic, light-bodied Pinot.
“Given the overwhelming approval of this wine in our tasting room, we decided a proper release was due,” said Brad Gearhart, Proprietor of Jacob Williams Winery. “The unique flavor profile of this wine, which comes from grapes grown in the Columbia Gorge, will appeal to newcomers and connoisseurs alike.”
The Jacob Williams Pinot Noir is a unique wine, crafted with experienced winemaking techniques that allow the distinctive varietal characteristics of Pinot Noir to truly shine in this first presentation wine. After 16 months fermenting in French and American oak, the fruit is dominate but persuasively smooth. Smokey Cherry and blackberry build with a complex variety of earthiness. Jacob Williams Pinot Noir is now available at their Tasting Room in Wishram, WA.
Jacob Williams sources their Pinot Noir grapes from Underwood Mountain Vineyard in Underwood, WA. The 2012 Pinot Noir was picked very late in October. The vineyard has a very high elevation of 1,100ft, with a cool climate and volcanic, sandy soil. Here is a link to the vineyard: http://www.underwoodmountainvineyards.com/aboutumv.htm.
