Jacob Williams Winery proudly announced the release of two new wines today, and they’re celebrating with a Harvest Party that highlights the crisp, fall fruit flavor special to the Columbia Gorge growing region and their wines. Scheduled for Saturday, October 18 from 1-4 p.m., the Harvest Party boasts live music, exclusive wine tasting of their new releases, and a delicious BBQ.
Guests can pair the newly released Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer with delicious food prepared by Crystal Borup, tasting room manager and Brad Gearhart, the owner of Jacob Williams winery. One taster said, “The Chardonnay has a lovely granny smith apple and Asian pear flavor that goes great with Brad’s grilled brats and Crystal’s harvest salad.”
The 2013 Chardonnay is described by Jacob Williams Winemaker John Haw as, “Crisp – stainless style Chardonnay, all fruit, pear and apricot.” Grown at McDuffee Vineyard in The Dalles, OR. on 13 year-old vines, and in sandy loam/basalt soil, at a 600 foot elevation.
The 2013 Chardonnay label tells the taster it’s, “Ultra refreshing & well refined with smooth, intense fruit that is crisply presented by stainless steel fermentation.”
Also being served at the Harvest Party is the 2013 Gewurztraminer. Grown at Bolton Vineyards on 10 year-old vines with rocky thin soil at a 300 foot elevation, and a hot and dry climate. Created in a dry style and aged only in stainless steel, ultimately there were under 200 cases produced. Rachael, a tasting room staff member said, “The Gewurztraminer has light floral notes of rose petals, apple, and a little spice on the finish.”
Guests of the Harvest Party can enjoy the festivities and tasting of all of their award winning wines at Jacob Williams Winery’s newly constructed tasting room that sits above the beautiful Columbia River, providing panoramic windows that include a wraparound patio and outdoor seating. Inside resides a large U-shaped bar and cozy seating where visitors can sample all of Jacob Williams award-winning wines.
